This is a very good AOE Transformer as far as I am concerned
This is a very good AOE Transformer as far as I am concerned. It is slightly under sized for Leader Class but in either mode it large enough to display well. As far as pros and cons go....The instructions only show Dino to robot... so it may be a bit tricky transforming Grimlock the first time but there are some YouTube videos that are very helpfulCons: Dino mode has very little articulation (Just the jaws and legs)The proportion of Dino mode is a little funky, the t-Rex arms are almost nonexistentBalance can be an issue for either mode depending on how the legs are positionedVery thick ratchet joints in the hips/shoulders you will either have Grimlock's arms all the way down, or out a bit with the elbows bentPros: Color is very flashy and boldNot a lot of visible kibble when in robot modeRobot mode is very pose able, feet move knees, thigh swivel, elbows, hands and the shoulders move but are on a stiff jointWeapons are pretty cool, the shield and mace are the tail of Dino mode and Grimlock holds the mace very well, however the shield just tabs into the Dino feet tucked behind his hands.

Got this for my nephew for the wise king's day and his very happy with it.
Not a bad figure at all, a bit complex in the transformation because the instructions show you from dino to robot. However anyone can just simply follow the instructions backwards and your good to go although i agree that the instructions should show both ways. Is quite a big figure, his a bit shorter than my ROTF Leader class Optimus Prime and his almost tall as the Masterpiece Girmlock just short by a hair. I was concern about the color pallet that Hasbro gave it and the chrome as well, but in the end its not bad at all looking. Of course some folks would have love this guy been screen accurate colors but this is aim for kid which is more priority than any adult. The figure is well articulated and can hold good posses, the Dino form is a bit stretch for my taste but is ok for what it needs to do.Got this for my nephew for the wise king's day and his very happy with it, his able to transform it pretty much on his own although he needed a bit of help which is a common sense to teach a kid how to do the process, but other than that his good to go. He only wish that Hasbro had made the other Dinobot team as big as this guy to go with it, he has the deluxes one and the voyagers which are good but he always wonder why Hasbro do this weird decisions.Overall the figure does what it need to do, sure there things that could have done better like a nicer looking T-Rex mode or a more proper colors, but this is meant for kids for them to enjoy, and since my nephew is happy then im happy which means the figure did its job which is all that matters to me.fully recommend it.

"Me GRIMLOCK, Me ok with Grimlock Figure!"
Ok, lots of 50/50 opinions on the guy. I can definitely see both arguments on the figure. I'll start with the robot mode first. The figure is again a scaled down leader class. He's roughly 9"-9.5" tall. This mode is where the figure shines the most. The head sculpt is pretty wicked in itself. All of the dinobots seem to be taking on a knight-like persona in there robot modes. Grimlock's chest is chrome plastic along with the inside of his lower legs as well as the T-Rex head that splits to create his shoulder armor. A lot of people have said that this figure has too much chrome and in the wrong places. The chrome apps in person do not look that bad. I think they balance the figure out. When compared to the OP generations leader, Grimlock is a lot bulkier and a tad bit taller. The detail is pretty cool and isn't completely washed out by the chrome. The head sculpt actually has a lot of detail but isn't seen due to paint apps being a little too dark. He isn't ridiculously hard to transform, tho the instructions given have you transforming the figure in it's alt mode to robot mode. just reverse the order and there you have it. Now where the figure lacks the most is in it's alt mode which is a T-Rex with horns. The proportions are a little off. The legs needed to be moved forward just a bit and because of that lack of design the torso appears too long and the tail section appears too short. It doesn't completely kill the look of the figure but it doesn't necessarily help it either. The back of the figure is where all of the chrome comes together giving you a nice shiny detailed back. The rigid frame of the alt mode and ultimate design isn't bad at all. Despite the awkward long torso, the T-Rex alt mode eventutally ends up growing on you. I have mine in the Tyrannosaurus Rex mode. The detail on the head is pretty impressive and the eyes almost give off a green glow. The lower jaw is articulated so the mouth can open and close. The horns and teeth are made of soft rubber. Again, once you transform from robot to T-Rex, your first initial reaction is "wow, that is one weird looking dinosaur" lol. But that mode will grow on you. Does the figure have flaws? Absolutely. Is he worth $45? I would say yes. Even with it's flaws and imperfections, it's just a cool figure to have in your collection. I mean its Grimlock, leader of the Dinobots. I would totally recommend this figure. Whether you're a newcomer or an old fan/collector of transformers or if you just like the movies. If you get the chance to pick it up, I totally would, it will not let you down.

Me shiny!
Great, really fun transformer. It's a next generation Grimlock and I am excited to see where he goes from here. It is a solid mold with a fun transformation. The chrome on him does look really nice and the gold bronze color as well. If your looking for a G1 grimlock, this isn't it and it's not supposed to be. If that's one of your complaints, then play with the G1 toy you already own. This is something new and fun to enjoy!
