Combat Medic Field Reference

I purchased expecting to receive a combat medic field refrence that just happens to have been written for Army medics. What I got was a book written for Army medics that just happens to have some combat medicine.In all honesty, maybe I misunderstood the synopsis of the book but I expected a combat medicine field reference, meaning a quick cheat reference for things like drug dosages, long term care considerations when extract was not possible, walk-throughs for some of the less common more complex procedures that might be useful either in a combat or extended care situation where definitive care might be hours to days away. My hope was for a book I could throw in my bag as a front line resource, esp. when out of the country. Guess that won't happen. It's currently collecting dust on top of my refrigerator.Yes, I am a medic. Yes, I am a medic instructor. Yes, I need to know/use combat medicine for my travels to less then savory zones. No, I am not in the Army.Where this book fell down, for me, was that it was more of a reference for how to be a medic in the Army then anything really dealing with medicine per se. Pages and pages and pages of polices, rules, procedures, ranks, blah, blah, blah, blah. Not to insult the Army or it's rules but I really don't need to carry that in my bag.Felt like this is was more of a manual you get after getting a job that set out the policies and goals of the organization then it was a Combat Medicine Reference.Guess it's all about what you're looking for. Since it's not returnable, caveat emptor!

This is one of the references that the the military SOCMS (Special Operation Combat Medics), get and use.

This is a great manual to accompany your med kit or to keep in your library. I would recommend reading it from front to back to get a good idea of how it is set up so as to be able to quickly use it in an emergency.

GREAT BOOK. totally useful, it did come in with plenty of writing, but that's an issue with the seller. Useful for 68Ws

If you didn't know, most of the cutting edge trauma techniques come from military medical procedures. This is a great book to use to get a better idea of where civilian trauma treatments are heading.

As a 68w, this outlines all the skills covered in 68w school as well as some great clinical skills you may need too.

Bought this book sometime ago... use it as a reference on many items, even thou I'm a civilian Advanced Care Paramedic now... no longer in the CF as a "Med A".

No nitty gritty just triage and perhaps something which the lawyers can agree upon. Do not waste your money on US army publications.
