Pro Chaser DC-DC 20A 240W Converter

The best feature of the Pro Chaser is the on-off control wire (5th wire) which deactivates the output when the key switch is off. This eliminates the small but constant battery drain that occurs with less expensive voltage reducers. It takes some more installation time to locate the switched B+ battery line to connect to the control wire. Check the coil terminals at the main solenoid (contactor) or the common terminal at the forward-reverse switch for a voltage change when the key switch is activated. The only thing that could be improved is the plastic mounting flange on the bottom of the Pro Chaser. The hold-down holes are too close to the body, making it difficult to use a wrench or socket on the mounting bolts.

I recently converted my golf cart to LiFePO4 power and wanted to put a beefier reducer on to add some additional accessories. This was simple to wire and can be controlled by the ignition, so it fit the bill. A few minutes of wiring and mounting and it was in. Some knowledge is required to determine which is the switched wire off the ignition, but if you are capable of that this is a good option for you.

Running a 48v lithium battery in my cart. Used the golf cart light bar to pour concrete last night. Ran light bar for over an hour, converter worked and stayed cool.

It worked fine, except it seamed to produce a bit of static on my radio

(10/30/2021) This review is for the 20A model. I tested it with up to a 10 amp draw and the voltage drop was from 12.94v (no load) to 12.48v @ 10A. This unit was a few dollars less than the potted types and it came with a 6 wire spade type connector already wired (not shown in pictures) and the matching connector, already wired, along with butt connectors for each wire; very nice. I also like the fact that it is not potted so if there is a future failure, I can open it up and hopefully fix it.

Did what it said On a 72v li ion pack and it ended up joining the connectors by melting the pins and solidifying from the inside. It was literally an electric shock you would get from power outlet but low intensity but high enough to cause what i mentioned just now. I tried to separate the connections and they weren’t coming out and ended up taking a lot of force and using 2 pliers on each end. I was using the Anderson quick connectors and those metels pins upon contact cause meltdown and got joined together. Bike is not running no power and dono what but looks like it blew up everything maybe so cant even figure out where to start now or should I even start at this point and maybe junk it. The unit has worked flawlessly since purchased. Easy to install and although it claims to not be waterproof it has gotten wet and the performance has not been affected.

Works as advertised. Much better than most of the other ones listed as this comes with a trigger wire so you can wire it to the ignition so it doesn't cause a constant draw unlike the others.
