Iron supplement
We were dealing with a need to increase our iron intake and this has 4.8 mgs (25% of daily value). Also, we read about the improvement it made to hemorrhoids (no kidding) and it works amazingly!

Relieves back pain
I mix a tablespoon of this with a cup of yogurt, and it helps relieve my back pain and joint pain--probably because of its high magnesium content. Surprisingly, another brand of blackstrap molasses that I tried did not do much for me. Brer Rabbit is very thick and rich. It is a natural source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, and other stuff that your body needs. It tastes pretty good. It is just a little more sour than regular molasses. It is unsulfured and comes in an antique looking glass jar. This molasses is made out of sugarcane juice. It has a high sugar content (Sugars 9g), and that is not so good. What I don't like about this molasses is that the bottle has no safety seal. Also, the bottle caps were loose in all three jars that I received. But the seller I got it from wrapped the jars tightly in bubble wrap--otherwise, the molasses would have leaked out. Many health benefits are claimed for blackstrap molasses. It contains nutrients that keep bones healthy, it is good for your skin, it gives you energy, it is good for your heart, and it supposedly prevents cancer. It says on the jar, refrigeration not necessary. One tablespoon is 60 calories. Calcium 20%, magnesium 25%, iron 4%, and potassium 450mg. It is gluten free. It tastes great with baked beans. You can add this to a cup of coffee instead of using sugar. Some people also use blackstrap molasses as a facial.

A MUST for our 100 year old cookie recipe
The family has an over 100 year old special molasses cookie recipe that calls for dark molasses. This has gotten hard to find in the usual grocery stores, so I order it through Amazon. When I couldn't find it in stores, I had to use the Original, and even though it is good, it does not provide the rich, dark flavor of the Blackstrap. Thanks, Amazon, for carrying this product so I know I can always find it to make a family-favorite recipe.

Different Packaging & Formula Delivered
The picture and nutrition label shown for this item do not match what is shipped. The container is a wide mouth jar versus the bottle shown. The nutrition label shows different amounts of nutrients, for example the label shown on the web page specifies 9 grams of sugars. The item delivered shows 11 grams. The manufacturer is the same - B&G Foods. Their web site for this item cautions that packaging and formulation may vary. The pictures for this item should be updated to reflect the product actually shipped.

Blackstrap Molasses is best.
I have started having a hard time finding blackstrap in any of the normal groceries. I have an early 1900 molasses cake recipe that my grandmother handed down that I love. It calls for Blackstrap Molasses (I usually use 'Robust' from a more common brand locally, but can't even find that much lately.) I decided to take a chance and order these online. I have had the brand before when I found it at a store. I with is wasn't in glass bottles, but they were bubble wrapped and arrived in good condition. I will probably buy it again.

The real thing!
98 yr old neighbor loves to cook and couldn’t find this molasses in any stores. She loved it more than anything in stores, so I checked Amazon. We ordered it and after getting thru all the packing, she made the first batch of cookies. I’m the taste tester, and they were like nothing else. Great taste, THE REAL THING .

Stuff is good for water kefir
I grew sugar cane and drank sugar cane juice. However, I have never had molasses which is derived from sugar cane. I am learning to make water kefir using molasses in combo with brown sugar. I decided to try Rabbit brand molasses since it's been around for a long time. It really helped rescue my tiny kefir grain to grow into large kefir grain. Thank you Rabbit.
