A gluten-free fast, delicious whole-food carb
I use this like a whole grain, but it is not a grain at all. I love the slightly sour taste, an outcome of it being fermented, like yogurt. I eat a lot of whole grains, and I soak them overnight or at least a few hours. Then most of them have to cook a long time. But when I have not soaked any grains and I am busy and hungry, I am grateful to have this on hand because it is already cooked, so it provides a fast meal. It does have a better texture when it is soaked, but only needs to be soaked for about 10 minutes. Then I boil it a short time to make it softer, or I add it to vegetables while they are cooking. So this gives me a rapid, healthy carbohydrate. It is gluten-free, and one packet makes a lot. You can dress it up any way you want; but because of its mildly sour taste it is good as is, unlike grains, which are bland. I like best to mix it with cooked vegetables. I have introduced a few of my friends to this food.

AIP diet friendly
Stumbled on this West African dish. On my grain free diet, this is the perfect rice replacement. Starchy and wonderful.

Delicious
My second order. This is perfect with any grilled meat or seafood (made this with tilapia, maquerel, shrimps and pork belly) accompanied with a simple tomatoe onion cucumber peppers salad and mayo blend. For those who complain about it being sour, you should look up videos on youtube on how to cook it properly. You have to add spices in it. Could be as simple as olive oil and salt or as complex as butter maggie and black pepper. This will drastically change the taste. Make sure you cook it in hot water and then pass it for a few minute in the microwave.

Wonderful addition to a gluten free or grain free diet
And it tastes great! I love the consistency which is not too fine. I keep buying cheaper versions but I keep returning to this item. Cheaper versions tend to be superfine almost like pastry flour, which does not work for me as I am not trying to make cakes or desserts. I just want a savory replacement for rice and wheat, and after I cook it well until the grainy texture has soften, I get a product that looks like polenta, but tastes way better as far as I am concerned. There is a faint sourness to it as though I was eating a sourdough porridge.

What a treat to find this!
Oh, This unique taste of West Africa is something you long for after moving away. I was so happy to find it in this dried form. A bit of the tang is lost in this process, but enough remains to take you back to the maquis of Côte d’Ivoire. Just add water (and alloco and sauce Piment)!

Absolutely horrifically awful!!
I bought this product in March and I’m just now trying it and I have to say that it is absolutely, horrifically awful. It is incredibly sour and is inedible. I just wasted $20 bucks, take my advice and don’t waste your money!

autoimmune friendly
This is at least my 4th order. For anyone on an autoimmune diet, this adds some much needed starch to a meal. I will pre-make with olive oil, yellow raisins, sea salt and keep in frig for a spoonful to add to any meal or bowl of soup. i have tried no other brand, so have nothing to compare it too, but am happy with the product.
