Dri-Pak Soda Crystals (1kg / 2.2 lb Bag)

I was bothered that the product arrived as a solid block inside the bag, instead of as the lovely crystals I saw on a YouTube video about them. Nearly decided to send it back but went online again and learned that you can run warm water over the block and get a usable solution. So I put the block in a sturdy plastic re-sealable kitchen bin, ran some water over it and used the solution on a sponge to clean my glass teapot. I am SO sorry I didn't take before and after photos. I didn't because I was sure it wouldn't work like the video; nothing ever does for me. But this time it did. My glass teapot wasn't just tinted a yellowish-brown; it actually had a film all along the inside from years of black tea and rooibos. I could immediately see a brown color in the milky white solution and a marked clearing of the glass after just one washing. A second washing got rid of the rest of the tint, and I did a third to make sure nothing else was coming off in the solution. I also used the solution on a thin brush wand i could push through the spout, with the same dramatic effect. From a yellow glass teapot to a perfectly clear glass teapot. Just one bit of advice: soda IS caustic, after all, so gloves should probably be worn. I'm a guy in my early 60s and no one cares what ANY part of me looks like, so some roughening and reddening of my hands during use doesn't really matter. But if you care about your hands more than I do, wear gloves.

Do not buy this from Amazon. This comes solid as a block of iron. I tried to break it up but it did not go well. Don't waste your time or money on this. I should have listened to the other reviews. The quality was horrible and did not work well at all. There was also lots of leakage from the package on arrival. I didn't notice any smell. This is a safety concern to break up as it might fly into your eyes. I'm not sure if this is all natural ingredients or not but it dont want to find out the hard way

Be sure to use it with boiling water. You can flush the drain fully with very hot water, but to melt the grease or get the hair to really move, you need to use at least a liter of boiling water to melt it. I have an older home and the drains were running very slow. I used it in both the kitchen and the bathroom drains. 1 cup in the drain, pour in the boiling water, wait 10 minutes and then flush with really hot tap water (no cold water) for at least minutes. It also killed the funky smell in my drain. Now I pour 1/4 cup down each week and flush it with the hot tap water. No problems since. Great value and better for the environment. Works better than baking soda and vinegar.

Good overall, better than what other reviewers have received, but not 100% what i was expecting. My product did not come out as one giant brick like some ppl have reported however the crystals were very very small, basically just powder, which is not what i was hoping for. It still sorta worked for my needs so not a huuuge deal. But I was hoping for chucky solid crystals of it to help reduce swelling on my knee. It all worked out in the end, but i had wished I could have seen the physical product before hand. It is basically powder.

Works well however if left in the bag it get very hard. That I'm unhappy with.

Ordered to clean my oven, they seem to work pretty well!!! I've not really noticed any odor at all. Only thing is you really need to wear gloves to use the powder.

I bought these soda crystals because I read they are good to clean and deodorize drains. The problem is, they are in hard little chunks in the package. It's impossible to "sprinkle" rock hard chunks down the drain! I used a hammer to try and break them up. (A hammer was the only thing strong enough to break them.) What I ended up with is a broken package and soda crystals all over the place. And there were still lots of rock chunks! This is not an effective method to clean drains. I will go back to my previous method of baking soda and heated vinegar. I guess I should return this, because it is very expensive for what you get. I won't do that because it is now open and used, but it is very tempting! I do not recommend this product.

Saw this used on youtube for cleaning chainsaw chains. I needed a cleaner to remove tree sap and other grime before sharpening them. The soda crystals exceeded my expectations. Some hot water, a few sprinkles of the crystals, let is soak a few minutes, brush off then rinse. Chains were cleaner than with any other product I tried. Very satisfied.

The soda crystals work really well. I added three tablespoons to a load of towel laundry, and I left it to soak overnight. I was surprised by how dirty the wash water was, and my white towels look really clean and a lot softer than they have been in a wile. I imagine there are more uses for the soda crystals, but I will be keeping the bag in the laundry room. Four and three-quarter stars. The only downside: I had to put the contents of the package in a jar as there is no closure on the bag.
