High security, well designed
I used this to secure my shed after a much cheaper system was easily bypassed by some thieves with bolt cutters. The install does require some skill with a drill - there is very little tolerance in the bolt hole layout for the staple part - so you must drill the holes very accurately and very close to perfectly perpendicular to the door frame surface. The holes in the staple are suitable for M6 bolts which are supplied (4 x 90mm M6 carriage bolts). You will want to use a 6.5mm bit for drilling these as pushing a M6 boltthrough a 6mm hole is a little difficult and the holes in the staple are 6.5mm anyway. The way the hasp component is fitted to the door is a little strange, here the bolts (this time just standard M6 bolts, not carriage bolts) must be inserted from the private side of the door rather than public as for the staple. And they must be cut to length so that the head of the bolt actually can reach the backing plate before the bolt bottoms out in the hinge plate of the hasp. There are only two bolts for this hinge plate so the drilling job is a little easier, again I drilled 6.5mm holes. There is a fair bit of tolerance in slit of the hasp for the staple to fit through. This means that any movement of the door and frame throughout the seasons shouldn't cause the two to become misaligned.A hasp and staple that uses bolts is so much more secure than one that is just screwed on. When installed well, as I have, it feels rock solid and I am now painful aware of the next weakest link - the hinges. I will replace those with some made from thicker steel and which can be bolted through like the hasp and staple above. But then the door is a little lightweight too.....

Great quality hasp
Great quality hasp - exactly what I wanted to secure my shed. I've had several Abus locks over the years and always been impressed with the quality. This is no exception. The pin which the padlock locks onto is secured with four bolts & nuts with back plate. The arm is secured by two bolts with back plate. I took my time to install it. Each hole needs careful drilling in sequence to ensure that it's drilled perfectly straight. This is essential otherwise bolts won't join-up with the back plates. I used multiple drill bits to do this - starting with a tiny 1.5mm pilot hole, then 3mm, 4.5mm and finally 7mm. I had to cut the bolts for the arm to make them shorter using a hacksaw. I left the nuts on the bolts to mark the point to cut and then to rotate after cutting to check the thread was still aligned. Once fitted the hasp feels very solid and it would take a lot of effort to jimmy it off taking the back plates with it. I've used an Abus Granit padlock to lock the hasp - as illustrated in the Abus photo. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect, Heavy Duty quality item,
Heavy Duty Solid staple and clasp, take your time, drill smaller holes initially as you line things up, all screws/nuts are provided which are quite long. To make use of their length and make the fitting solid I fixed some extra timber to the inside of the shed to add extra thickness which ensured the length of the screws provided fitted even more securely. The lock I used was the ABUS 8363C which fits this staple and clasp set perfectly.

Heavy Duty But Not So Weatherproof
As others have said you need to be extremely careful and accurate when fitting as it’s not very forgiving. As as a security product it’s pretty good but obviously nothing will stop a determined thief. The issue I have is that after two years of being fitted I now have lovely rust marks all down my shed door due to corrosion on the hasp. It’s already had two coats of Hammerite over this period but there’s obviously parts that need to move so the best you can do is use some WD40 and get a small wire brush in there as best you can. At this price I would have expected a decent coating.Would I buy it again - NO CHANCE!
