You can buy these mini greenhouses in Walmart, but if you shop at Walmart then you know as well as I do that Walmart never has anything in stock anymore. Extremely annoying to me. I found this product at Walmart out of a friends suggestion. To my dismay they only had one left in stock. Since I didn't need it right away decided to look the following week. None in stock again and was told to look online at Walmart.com by a Walmart associate. WELL... Sorry Walmart. I came on here and found the exact same product $5 cheaper with free shipping.I was skeptical that this product would actually work, but to my joy I have 4 of these with 72 little pods full of tiny petunia sprouts. It is still in danger of freezing in my area so these are terrific for starting flowers. I did not start them in doors like it suggests but rather set them in a sunny area next to my garage where they keep pretty warm all day. Don't expect the lids to be perfect, because they are not. I just used some tape along one long side to make it into a flip up lid that won't fly away and then just one piece in front so it won't fly open if the wind blows and catches a corner.It froze a couple of nights ago but none of the new little flowers were harmed with the lid on. If you start these indoors then you will have to harden off the flowers, but why bother if you can just start them outside and prevent them from freezing. I have pots that flowers reseed themselves in every year way earlier than anything can be planted, so theses are the same concept. Only reason I used these is because I am growing a different flower than what has reseeded from last year. Beginners can use this without a problem. Get the pods wet, drop in the seeds, tape the lids on, put in a sunny area, and watch them grow.Edit to this review. I found that the little pods made it hard for the roots of the plants to go through. Not saying they didnt, but just that the ones I pulled off before I planted grew a lot faster. One type was made of a cotton material and it quickly grew mold. I would suggest removing the mesh or cotton before you plant.

I have been using Jiffy Greenhouse starters for many years now! I have tried many other methods in the past and have found these to be worth every single penny. It makes gardening so much easier when you are able to keep everything organized. I always just draw a diagram ahead of time so I can plant all different types of seeds and not wonder what they are. If you are someone who thinks they do not have a green thumb, I highly recommend giving these a shot. The plastic lid does a great job of keeping in moisture so you are not frequently having to water. These are also a great project to do with your children with minimal mess. They will love the feeling of growing something from a seed, to a full plant! The beauty of these seed pods comes when its time to plant. If you are someone like me who grows lots different veggies, it makes planting a breeze as the pods hold together incredibly well. I tried to used egg cartons ones, buy the Jiffy!

The tray is a tad flimsy but as long as you're not moving it around a bunch it's great! The clear lens lets light through well . It makes a good seal and keeps humidity high ... I've used more than one and with the new vegetable garden season upon me and a never-ending addition to growing bonsais from seed, I will be using this product several times again in the future!

Get 90% germinating success with my tomato seeds (I suspect the other 10% were just old seeds). Segments of 3 columns each are detachable, so you can easily remove some section of seedlings if they are growing faster than the rest and set them in a more open area.Only advice I have is that instead of following the directions on the package for rehydrating the pods, is would just stick them in a bowl of water and let them soak it up in their own time. It takes longer than I would have expected to hydrate the pods, something like 15 minutes each to get them to the point of being soft enough for the seeds to be planted.

Works fine for 1 season, can last if stored carefully and extra pellets can be ordered. Works well for starting seeds.

Just what I wanted, it is a cheap but large seed propagator. The plastic is flimsy and the cover is no where near airtight. It will work nicely in an already warm sunny location. Wouldn't recommend it for a drafty window or outside in northern climes, but for what I need it for it (starting vegetable seeds inside in winter), it will do nicely!

Worked very well, and would not hesitate to recommend them to others that want to start their seeds early. I used portions of it 3 times and will be using it again this year to start more plants from seed. Will have to order another one next year!!

I use these every year to start my vegetable seeds inside. There is a good you tube video on how to set them up. I plant the seeds about 10 days before I'm ready to put them in the ground. Every year I render a beautiful vegetable garden.

Easy set up

These were fine as seed starters but they really are not necessary and the fabric around the seeding material has to be removed before planting as it does not disintegrate.

i really liked the way it worked and prepped for planting, its just too bad that nothing that i had planted sprouted cant blame the box its all in the seeds
