A fun series that I can reread and still enjoy it just as much
This is a well deserved five star rating, and not over exaggerated or over the top, so if you don't agree that's fine, but don't put other people's reviews down just because other people enjoyed it more, just my honest opinion.I have really enjoyed this series. Olive isn't a perfect heroine, she's flawed, makes mistakes but is real. I really liked the relationships she had with her friends. Rutherford, it's a good friendship with no romance, which makes a pleasant change. Morton the cheeky chap who doesnt want Olives help but needs it. This was also enjoyable because the relationship Olive had with her parents had no arguing or tantrums over petty things, yes she is very different to her parents but they all cared for each other. Finally, the cats, I loved each of their personalities, Leopold the brave protecter, Harvey the actor, Horatio with the tough love. The descriptions didn't bog down the story, and I never found myself getting bored or confused.Lastly what convinced me to give this five stars, is the quirky adorable illustrations. It's not crammed with them, but it's a lovely addition when you turn the page and see one, no it's not amazing, but it adds a nice touch.I just wish there was another series following Olive. The past two years of reading these books has bought me (and someone I lent it too) so much enjoyment. I'm a lot older than the target audience, but it had the right amount of magic, baddies, friendship and humour.
