Does well what it is designed to do.
This cloth guide works well if placed where it was designed to use-on the metal plate surrounding the presser foot. It does not work well for anything smaller than 3/8 to 1/2 inch because there is not sufficient metal to make a firm attachment. I found that I had to use two magnets. I use a longer narrow one to brace the smaller one. With the correct ends touching they brace quite well for 1/4 inch or larger. Of course it will not work for any seam that goes beyond the metal. For that distance I use a three inch long by 1/2 in wide strip of leather that I attach with double sided tape. It is flexible enough to fit the curvature of my machine and sturdy enough (1/4 thick) to guide my fabric. If the tape leaves a little residue on my machine some Goo Gone will take that off.

Not great
The cheaper ones have a stronger magnet. This one slides off the mark quite easily.

1/4” seam magnet
The magnet stays in place to allow for a 1/4” seam allowance.

It is PERFECT for sewing straight seams and my issue with curves ...
The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because I still have a little trouble keeping the fabric straight when I'm sewing curves. It is PERFECT for sewing straight seams and my issue with curves might just be user error :)

However I was slightly disappointed because the magnet does not seem to be as ...
I had an old one that my mother had given me and I passed it on to my daughter because we are both quilters. That makes it more than 25 years old. However I was slightly disappointed because the magnet does not seem to be as strong.

The tab makes it easy to grasp for removal
The magnet is strong enough without it being difficult to remove. The tab makes it easy to grasp for removal. I have been using a stick on style guide and this one is much easier.

Dritz Magnetic Seam Guide
This magnetic seam guide really works. I love it. You do not have to worry about the fabric drifting. For the most part it keeps it right where you need your fabric to be and the cool thing is that it just comes right off when you do not need it anymore. I love it and it does what it says it will do. It has a pretty strong magnet, but then all you are guiding is fabric and nothing heavy weight like wood. Great price and buy.

Great idea.
This foot did not fit my singer. Keeping it to see if it will work on one of my other machines. It's a great idea.

Cool idea and nicely made but not strong enough for my application.
This is easy to use and will probably work well while sewing lighter weight fabric. I wanted something that would assist me in sewing a heavy canvas tent. Since the material is so heavy that it easily pushes the magnet from position.

Four Stars
Very helpful when quilting or just sewing without a walking foot accompanied by a quide.
