It’s made from pretty solid materials, the finishing is very nice, and it’s definitely cheaper than the version sold by West Elm; but, this is overshadowed by the fact that the base and lamp pipe on mine were put together in such a way that the pipe is very noticeably off vertical. The niceness of the lamp - and the fact that it emits light for a living - draws attention to the lamp, and then to how utterly messed up it is for having such consideration put in to its fit and finish.

Very attractive and well made product. Don't worry about knocking it over since it's weighted nicely. The only thing I wish it had was a dimming mode--the light is quite bright.

It set's on my husbands desk, that was his great grandfathers.It brings in the cool modern with the traditional desk.Looks like a piece of art..
