Learn to identify birds by their colors!
Coloring the birds yourself in this book is an excellent way to learn to identify birds by their colors.

What a wonderful adult coloring book of Audubon’s Birds!
I bought this book for a friend who loves birds and I looked through it before giving it to her, enjoying each and every page! Dover has been publishing these kinds of books for many years, on a large number of topics, long before the recent adult coloring book revolution, and I bet you can find some on your bookshelf that you bought years ago! The prices for these are very reasonable, too, often $3.99 or less, and this one is just $3.35 with free 2-day shipping if you have Amazon prime! The only drawback for these books is that they are printed back-to-back so if you use markers they bleed through and ruin the picture on the other side. However the detailed drawings really call for colored pencils where you can do shading, and this book is perfect for that! Or, you can copy the page you want to color on good quality copy paper of the weight you prefer (I like the Hammerhill color copy cover paper, 60 lb. weight, which is like a very light cardboard like you would use as a cover to a report). This is a wonderful book for anyone who likes birds and I highly recommend it!

A nice book for a simple birder
Almost don't want to touch it, it's so nice. I love looking at all of the pictures. I feed and watch the birds at my house and i.d. them. So I thought this book would be nice to have.

Birds of America to Color
Audubon's Birds of America has 46 pages to color and colored pictures to use as guides. All the information that is included with the birds is wonderful to see. There are so many people including young ones that want to learn all they can about birds and this is a great book to get. Depending on the age of the person you may gift it to, you may want to color them first. After all, we want to share the enjoyment don't we?This book will continue giving for years to come so I can't stress it enough about making sure to have something under your picture if it isn't removable so you won't leave imprints on the picture under it or color markings from the one already done. You don't want anything to mess up your hard work on these wonderful pictures in any of these books.

Childhood memory!
I remember having this book many years ago as a child. I love birds and coloring the Audubon paintings was something special to me. When I saw that this was still being printed, and for $5, I had to have it again. Wonderful book, even for adults!

Educational, fun, relaxing
I got many of these books in different themes and love coloring them. You can get really creative. I don't have an artist's talent, so I enjoy creating my own color combinations, although there are colored pictures of all of them on the covers so you can follow those or come up with your own. These aren't not kids coloring books! They are more detailed, and I use colored pencils on some, fine point gel pens on others and a wide range of felt tip colors on most. I usually do these in the evening when I need to wind down and they work wonders for me. Even without artistic talent, I love my renderings and plan on keeping the completed books to look at a few years from now or give some of them to an elderly friend who loves them when I finish coloring them. Great idea for adults or kids who have advanced coloring skills.

Your chance to color Audubon's birds!
Paul E. Kennedy's renderings of 36 of John James Audubon's birds into "Audubon's Birds of America Coloring Book" make art accessible to anyone with a few bucks. The colorer has two approaches to a finished product: (1) go wild, use the imagination, use colors of your choice, or (2) try to recreate Audubon's colors. The pages are nicely done, including enough detail for advanced colorers, and certainly large enough (11 x 8) to have fun displaying the completed artwork. The quality of the paper certainly surpasses that of most common coloring books.Among the included birds are these: American Flamingo, Purple Finch, Screech Owl, Brown pelican (my state bird), Robin, White-throated Sparrow, Brown Thrasher, and, of course, the Wild Turkey. In case the colorer does not have an actual Audubon book for a guide, Kennedy includes three pages of small illustrations from Audubon's book. One could spend a pleasant hour doing something else, but an hour with Audubon, an array of coloring tools before you, Haydn's "Piano Concerto No 2" with Maurizio Pollini on the CD player, and a cup of coffee in reach--now there's an hour of bliss!

By the book!
I bought this book and a coffee table sized book of Audubon's prints and watercolors to use in reference for paintings. This book is a great place to start if you want to draw birds (or color them for that matter). I really enjoyed looking up the different birds in the big book to copy the colors in this one. Good book to start you off on coloring or tracing or copying. You can't go wrong. Nice quality paper and nicely done birds.

Art
Excellent little book, maybe intended for children but as an adult I love it and bought another for my sister.

Beautiful and fun to draw
Really like this picture book. Drawings are authentic. Two issues: colour guides are a bit too small, and the images are double sided, so colouring one side affects the other side

Audubon's BIrds a challenge to color
Looking forward to coloring these pictures of birds. Audubon's drawings of wildlife are fantastic. Will be a challenge to color them, try to make them look good but not great like Audubon's drawings..

Disappointed that drawings were on both sides of the page.
The drawings of the birds are very realistic. I was disappointed that the pictures were double-sided. This means that the colours and impressions made on the paper bleed through to the other side. I would only recommend this colouring if it was changed to one-sided drawings only.
