Been using Great Hair Day for years. Has saved me from having to wear a wig. A little expensive for the amount you get but it works to hide bare spots. A little messy to use but doesn't rub off on pillow.

As a woman with PCOS, my hair has been thinning for some time, and none of the remedies like Rogaine or special shampoos worked for me. I tried formulating my own fill-in powder, which met with mixed results -- decent coverage but no staying power. A couple of years ago, I happened to tune in to QVC and saw this product advertised and thought I'd give it a shot. Say what you want about Joan Rivers, but she makes quality products that address real-world concerns. This one is no exception. When applied correctly -- which takes some time, skill, and a better brush than the one that it comes with (I'd recommend Hakuhodo's G353 Eye Brow Brush [..] which is pricey but durable and does a wonderful job) -- the powder covers well and lasts without fall-out or rubbing off on clothes or pillows for several days. Shop around for the best price -- even with a quantity discount at the official site, you'll likely do better from an Amazon affiliate or other online store.

I've tried several of these products and this is the only one that works well. You have to practice applying it until you get the knack so it doesn't look like you painted your scalp, but it's worth the effort. I've always had thin hair, but have lost a lot of hair lately due to age, especially on the crown of my head. Despite this, several people have complemented me on my hair and are shocked when I tell them 'I'm practically bald,' and use this powder to cover the bald spots. They swear you can't tell. I use the salt and pepper. The dark grey of the powder tends to tone down some of the white hair, which is fine with me. Once it's applied, it stays on until washed out. Other products I've tried have flacked off, onto my face and into my eyes. Only negative: the fine powder tends to get all over the bathroom sink and other surfaces, so be prepared to take a damp cloth and wipe bathroom surfaces quickly after use.

i like this product, but it is way too expensive so i use it sparingly !!! and why is gray more expensive than other colors?????

I really like Toppik fiber hair cover, but the colors are awful - unless you have jet black or really dark brown hair, or red auburn. But if you have salt & pepper, or light brown with no red in it, you are stuck. Joan Rivers' salt & pepper is a medium gray with no red in it, perfect for light brown hair that is graying. It also has the advantage of being applied with a brush, so there's no shaking a container & worrying about "drift" into the hairline. However, it does not give body the way Toppik does, so maybe I should take away one star, but I'm so happy to finally have the right color, I'm giving it 5. Also, If I shake a little Toppik (dark brown) over this lighter JR color, it adds the little body I need.16 months later... am still really happy with this product. And it lasts! I use it a few times a week (I wear a baseball cap the rest of the time) and over a year later I've only used up half of the product.

This item was ordered for my sister who has used it before. It appears to help her feel more comfortable and confident when going out and for that reason I rated it 4 Stars. My impression is that because of the size and amount of the product, and the small applicator making it time consuming to apply, it is over priced.

Does a great job and gives confidence. Lasts until shampooed and helps treat scalp! I blend salt & pepper with white to get the best match. Love it. Supply lasts nicely.

I'm nearly bald on top of my scalp in front, but I have plenty of hair all over the rest of my head, so the baldness in front is very apparent. JR's GHD really masks my bare scalp and makes my remaining hair look fuller. With a good haircut and GHD, I feel confident that my hair looks great. The product lasts a long time between applications (several days), doesn't rub or wear off, and each compact lasts a long time. There's nothing about this product that I don't like, and I would recommend it to anyone who's concerned about the appearance of their thinning hair. Even my hair stylist now recommends JR's GHD to her clients with thin/thinning hair because she's seen how well it's worked for me.
