It’s a really great scan tool
So far I’ve used this scan tool for a week. It’s…holy cow great, really, especially at such a price – $150. Honestly, I’m neither an experienced DIY lover of car repair and maintenance, nor a complete beginner. So my review could be a reference for you in some degree.First off, this diagnostic tool comes with a paper carry case, which has the main unit, user manual, OBD2 cable, USB cable, and a USB sticker inside. You can store the important diagnostic data in the TF card, or you can use it for software update. Felt it like a PSP when I held it with single hand operation. It’s lightweight, and kind of anti-skidding.As for the diagnostic functions, it’s almost certain that what functions this scanner provides are just as the ads. I tested it on three cars in my family – 2012 Ford F-150, 2015 Toyota Camry, 2016 Chevrolet Equinox LS. Works perfect with all these cars, reading and clearing codes in OBD, engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag systems. I thought this scanner supports oil reset and SAS reset, in fact, it’s not. It’s the VIII which looks like this VII+ supporting reset services. My only complaint is that it’s a little bit complicated to register my scan tool so that I can update the scanner. Must it be so troublesome? Hope this can be improved, after all, it’s not an easy work for most users. So overall, the scanner is great for doing basic diagnoses. The seller replied me quickly when I asked for help btw...I definitely recommend anyone getting this for convenient DIY car fixes or repairs so that you guys can save much time and money in car maintenance, seriously.

too cumbersome to register!
At first I was angry how difficult it was to register it and update it was. I was going to return it ( should have)I thought I finally registered it... somewhere else besides the link they provided that did not work.... NOT.After a week of trying to register it... the simple "username" I could not understand what it wanted from me...two letters, a number, underline? (that is not underscore) more letters and end with a number. very frustrating!Nothing I tried worked!!! I asked for an example... no reply.Put the TF card here then there. The card can be inserted wrong in the device and I'm not just talking upside down. my card end up beside the slot where it is suppose to go into and that is what happened to me. It was logged between the case and the card reader slot.I destroyed the card trying to get it back out of there with tweezers. Now I got a brainless $200.00 auto scanner that I can't download a fix for. You know what?I am done with it. I am going to donate it to the nearest thrift store so they can make a dollar on it too. Wait... Ill feel bad for the guy who buys it and thinks he got a great thing too like I did.Maybe I should just dig a hole and bury it. No, that is not good for the environment.WOW that's ironic...I bought this thing thinking that i:m just trying to make my car more environmentally friendly.Wish I was smart like you .

Best OB2 scanner for the price!
I've had this thing for over 2 years and it has paid for itself SO many times! I originally purchased it to clear a transmission code on my old Chrysler Crossfire after I replaced the electrical plate on the transmission because the Dodge dealership said that their equipment wouldn't be able to do it for me because the Crossfire engine was Mercedes(when Chrysler and Mercedes were in business together in the early 2000's) and that I'd have to drive over 2 hours to the closest Mercedes dealership to see if they could do it for me. So I found this obd2 scanner that could enter the transmissions brain, clear the code, and take the car out of 'limp mode' so I could drive the car again! I've used the scanner for SO many other cars it's amazing and no i was not paid or whatever to post this review. It's an awesome tool for those who hate going to the dealer or an auto store to have them scan it for you when you can save time and money by doing it yourself!

It works, I included tips I hope you find useful
I got this in April of 2017. It works, a few things I thought I'd share. It didn't come with a user manual, but I downloaded one from the launchtechusa website. It does come with instructions on updating it with the latest vehicle info. You download the updater software from mycar.x431 website, but it's in RAR format instead of ZIP, so you may need to download another program to extract it. I used 7zip, which is a free utility. I powered up the unit with the USB cable and looked up the serial number and register code. I then unplugged it, removed the TF card (microflash) put that in the adapter and plugged it in to my laptop. I had a spare laptop with Windows 7, so I used that as it says the software is compatible with Win7. It worked fine, and it read the serial and register codes from the TF card, so I didn't have to type them in. It took 5 minutes or so to download the updates to the TF card. Then it was just a matter of plugging it in to the OBDII port on my car, turning the key to the run position, and going thru the menus per the user manual. I suggest downloading the user manual and the quick start guide and reading them over before purchasing. The quick start guide is on the mycar.x431 webpage with the software, labeled "Guide of Registration". It's a .pdf file, but the extension is missing, so add.pdf to the filename so Windows knows how to open it. SUGGESTIONS TO THE SELLER: make the software a zip file instead of RAR, so it is easy to extract. Also add the .pdf extension to the "Guide of Registration" file, so it opens properly.
