Must have if you’re rigging wire

This is a great little tool for doing haywire twists and the smaller wire sizes a must have for lure making or leader fabrication at a great price point.

I bought this tool to do twists in my wire leaders and It is super easy to use. It is smaller in size than I expected but that does not seem to make it a challenge to use. I also bought the Kwik Twist tool, but I found this one to be faster and easier to learn though the Kwik Twist tool makes a neater/tighter twist on the line. And this tool does not require any extra tools to use...I have attached pictures to show that you CAN put twists in both ends of your leader, as the tool has a cut in it for the wire to go. Once you make the twist you can slide the tool down make a few tighter wraps and then open the tool and take it right off of the wire.I found the instructions easy and straightforward, though a YouTube video out there may be easier for the visual learner.I use Malin #6 HardWire for the twists in the picture.

You can only a haywire on one sides. If you want to put a haywire on the LURE and then also do a haywire to clip onto you are out of luck. If you do a second haywire on the same piece of wire the tool is stuck on the wire between the two haywire's. It has to be slid off an open end to be removed after forming the haywire. Its silly. almost stupid.

So I purchased this product because I fish wire leaders a lot. The device itself does what it says it will do but because it is so small you don't have a lot of leverage to hold it tightly and twist easily. The second part of twist not sure the name is even harder to achieve and requires some practice. Over all the most important part of the haywire twist is easily achieved.

It is tricky to figure out how to use this tool and I needed to look around on You Tube but finally I can make strong haywire twists now although I still do the barrel rolls by hand. I never could figure out how to use the tool for the barrel rolls. It seems to me the actual manufacturer should do more to help buyers get the most from this useful little tool.

Doing haywire twists by hand is not hard, but after 4 of them i would rather use this tool, nicely made.

Doesn’t seem to work like the directions or video suggest it should.
