KYB SM5184 - Strut mount

Works great for 3rd gen 4Runners .

It was easy to install. And is still working well on the truck.

Was having a clunking noise when I was hitting speed bumps. After further inspection I noticed that my rubber was torn on my strut mount.I took off my coil overs and had a shop replace it. I also purchased the bushing kit for my bilsteins.Now it all hooked up and running smooth. No more clunking noise.(This is an initial review. Perfect fit for my truck. Came with all nedded hardware.

Used these strut mounts struts in my 2002 Tacoma V6 double cab, and after a few months they’ve proven to be good quality, but at install I will say that the bolts that are pressed into place will come loose if you’re not careful, which mine did. You can tighten in down still if you go slowly and jolt the bolt head with some needle nose pliers. All in all good product and good value but let a professional assemble the strut, spring compressors are dangerous and can cause injury.

These work great….didn’t need to purchase the lower stem cushion or retainer (middle washer) separately, as these are integrated into the mount, along with the coil isolator. Upper stem cushion, along with upper and lower washers are needed for a complete job.I ordered two of these, and oddly, the included nuts for mounting to the frame bucket took a 14 mm wrench for one of them, and a 15 mm wrench for the other. Just a minor inconvenience, but hopefully not indicative of quality control.

Rubber mount split looks torn.

Poor quality, I don't trust this brand. Nuts were oblong/oval and unable to thread onto the posts. Appears cheaply made and not worth the hassle.

Install these on 3rd gen 4runner with combo of dobinsons c59-302 spring, tundra 5100 bistein shocks (1st perch). Mount bushing is equip with it, and make it perfect for tundra billies install as new shocks only comes with 1 new bushing which is extremly hard to get, id is .450 and not average 3/8.(Stay away from toytec springs, too stiff and spring will crack).Nevertheless, rides very good and hopefully will last long.

Good replacement option for 3rd Gen 4Runners. I used these when installing my lift (Bilstein 5100 shocks and OME 881/890 springs). Toyota Original shock mounts were $189 each from the dealer so that alone makes it a good value.

Used for 99 4Runner. Works good.
