We're all human. We have desires. Needs. And if ogling over the latest selection of St. Croix beauties puts the curl in your cast, so to speak, well that's just fine. Especially when the page turns to our Legend Elite fly rods. A seductive combination of slim-profile ferrules and stunning cosmetics matched with premium, highmodulus, high-strain SCV graphite blanks loaded with ARTTM and IPC technology. Legend Elites also feature SCVI graphite in the lower portion of the rod for added power and reduced weight. All this, and NSi (Nano Silica) resin technology, as well. The result is enough space-age science and American handcraftsmanship to give you a four-piece rod that performs like a one-piece. Freshwater models are finished in a smooth Gallatin green, while the saltwater rods - featuring our max-power butt section for handling big fish and even bigger winds - are finished in a sweet Belize blue. Hubba, hubba.

Excellent fly rod
I (Sheila's husband) purchased this rod (9-ft, 5-wt, 4-piece) several months ago and paired it with a Lamson Guru reel and SA textured line. My wife, son, and I have used it extensively since then, mainly for trout and mainly with larger dry flies, though occasionally with a #16 Adams and occasionally with a 6-ft sinking leader and medium streamer. We are all very fond of this rod. It casts easily, covers distance nicely, and drops the fly quite gently.I don't believe one rod can be the best at all things. The qualities that make a rod an excellent rod for #20 BWO dries are incompatible with a rod that excels at throwing sinking line with big ugly streamers, or double nymph rigs with thingamabobbers. But this rod makes an excellent general purpose rod that has a very smooth feel and even seems to have "soul". Fit and finish, cork and reel seat are top notch.I own (and have owned) many high-end rods from several companies (Winston, Sage, GLoomis in particular). This rod compares VERY favorably to all of them, is less expensive, and served as my only rod I used on a recent trip to BC (and I took my GLoomis and Winston rods too BTW). Buy it. You'll like it.

Fine Rod!
First, personal preference in such matters is subjective but with that said, I cannot imagine that anyone who cast this rod would not be favorably impressed. The Legend Elite handles short, (20's), mid and long distance, (60-70') casts very well. My primary attention was with how well/with what ease it cast longer distance, (70' range). Using a standard WF line, (not a specialized distance-tournament line), I could pick the line up and absent DBL-hauling easily be casting in the 60' range with a couple of false casts and DBL Haul 70' plus. Admittedly, for the majority of fishing, this type of distance request of a rod is not common, however, it does point to the rods ability to deliver when called on or for that matter in windy conditions. As briefly alluded to above, the rod performed very well in the mid-distance range and I was able to deliver a nice presentation in the 25/30'foot range. The rod is light in hand, track very well and is responsive/has feel...telegraphs well.Made in America always hits hone with me and as I have a battery of name rods, (Scott, Powell, Sage, Loomis, Orvis), that sell for $795.00 plus...this rod at $440 to $450 in a 5 WT. is amazing...comparable to better in performance, excellent craftsmanship, made in America and you see the price comparison.
