Spectrum Word Study and Phonics, Grade 4

I have a 4th grader (9year old boy) who was behind in reading and writing. I knew he just needed to go back a little bit and work on the letter and sound rules along with more practice. I got him this Grade 3 level book first to help and it was amazing. Now we are nearing the end of his 4th grade school year and starting the 4th grade version. My son is doing so much better, more confident, and has a better understanding to go forward and build on. Definitely recommend!

This book is very unique. As usual, the Spectrum books are perfect teaching tools. I have not seen this particular material addressed so thoroughly in any other 4th Grade book. I am so happy to have it for my 4th grader, and he always enjoys working in the Spectrum books. Well presented and organized...thorough. Great review of foundational skills. I felt like some of those was “below” fourth grade level in the beginning, but easily skipped over if you want.

This really did wonders to help our first grader read much better than he had been. A page or two a day and within a very short time we noticed a huge improvement in his reading and spelling comprehension,

13 years of homeschooling and the Spectrum Word Study and Phonics series is a staple we use from Level P through 6. Affordable, simple, thorough, solid, and effective. My kids word through these independently and this covers all the basis of "word study."

My daughter struggles with phonics and her teacher recommended I get something for her during the summer months. I found this workbook and she really likes it, and sometimes I find her doing the pages on her own without me asking her to do them.

I use this every day for my (very) slow readers although learning more phonics at the middle school level is questionable practice. Still, it useful to support phonemic awareness. Useful indeed.

As a homeschooling mom, I was looking for something extra to solidify the curriculum that my daughter completed early in her school year. The colourful pages and content is great. Have purchased Spectrum books before and will continue to do so.
