The item looked great. I didn't get to use it, had to send it back. There were scratches on it. They gave me a refund right away.

I bought this for myself because I'm always reading and I need background noise ... preferably music. The video was just an added bonus. The reader worked like a dream for the first month or so but then it started taking longer to charge and it wouldn't hold the charge for more than an hour. Finally, it got to the point where I would leave it charging overnight ... except when I unplugged it in the morning the battery would drop to nothing and the reader would tell me it was shutting down because of low power.Alright, fine, I thought. I had a warranty and it should be a simple matter of contacting Ematic and sending it back to be fixed or traded in for another, right? WRONG! I emailed them like both their website and the warranty asked and got a quick automated reply telling me that they would get back to me within one business day. WRONG AGAIN! A week later and still no reply I sent them another email. Again, I got no reply except the automated response. I attempted to call them, on a business day during working hours, and got a voice messaging system. I left a message and immediately sent another email. NOTHING! It has been almost 2 months since I attempted to make contact and I've still never heard from them. My warranty has since run out and I'm left with a dead reader and my wallet $90 lighter.The only reason this gets two stars is because while the reader worked it was everything I could have asked for. If Ematic had actually gotten back to me and fixed or replaced my reader it would have gotten 5 stars. Sadly, it seems Ematic runs itself, turning out products with no human help.Advice: Pay the extra and get something else!

I had to do a few work arounds to get this to do some of the things I wanted.First, I use calibre to manage my ebooks and to be able to organize them by title on the reader I had to drag and drop rather than send to device(puts them in folders based on author).Second, I had to rename a number of my ebooks because it doesn't not scroll if the title is longer than the display space. The way I labeled my Star Wars collection meant many, many of the titles started the same.Third, and finally in order to be able to zoom in and read my comic books I had to convert them from epub to pdf (the reader won't zoom in on pictures in epubs).You should also know that this reader does not support DRM-protected books. So if you are purchasing your ebooks go with another player unless you know a work around.

I love my e-reader! I purchased an e-reader because I spend a lot of time on the bus each day going to and from work. I was hesitant to buy this one because the reviews were kind of half negative and half postitive. The videos are crystal clear and the sound is great. I did have a problem viewing pdf files, but I converted my books to epub files and they are perfect. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it does still have a glare unlike some kindle products and was a little difficult to read while poolside. I'd say for the price it's a great buy and I'm very satisfied!! It makes my time on the bus go by a lot quicker!

I was looking for a good gift for my 8 years old daughter birthday, since she like to read a lot and listen to music, I thought that was a really good present, better than an ipod or a mp3 player. The idea of having a product with that price, size, color, a little keyboard, everything in terms of the presentation it is very attractive, but the company that sells it, it should at least check if the product works and protect it better (bubble rap, may be), before sending it. A customer buys it, wait for it, and 4 business days get something that doesn't work, and then the process of either get another one that might not work (4 day of waiting for the company approval for a product they send and it was damage, 4 days before they get it back and 4 days to get the new one, and maybe doesn't work) or two weeks waiting to get the refund.I appreciate AMAZON concern and their mediation, but this company should charge a bit more money in the product and work on their quality controls, like I said the idea it great, but make the product work, at least before sending it.

Oh my goodness I used to have tons upon tons of books until I got this! I uploaded just about every book I had on hand from the internet and was able to really cut down on the overflow of paper and hardback books around my house. The picture is excellent on this. Love the option to rotate the text to hold upright or sideways. Super easy to load books,pics,and videos onto it. Love the option to play your music you loaded onto it as background music when you are reading. Everything about this reader is awesome and I love it!

We received the ebook and found that the unit is defective. The company has said to send it back, so I am waiting now to the approval thru amazon so I am get a return lable. This was to be a Christmas gift for my daughter and she has not been able to have the use of it yet. Both I and she is very disapointed so far. Will have to see what happens with the return.UPDATE: Going through my account today and realized I never updated this review. The only reason I gave one star is because we do not have an option for no stars, or better yet negative one's. The second unit was no better than the first. I DO NOT recommend this product or company. They did not seem to care that they had sent out bad units. In the end we got our money back, and bought a Kindle. Should have done that from the get go.
