Wow, this lamp is excellent. The packaging was fantastic, however I would open it somewhere that you don't mine a bunch of little white balls flying around, the styrofoam box seemed to be cut to fit the light and there are lots of loose particles all over. Once opened and out of the box, the materials were all in great shape. My wood bar had one ding on the bottom but once pieced together it was covered by a small ring that goes between the base and the wood staff.The light is bright, it's perfect with two 60W equivalent CFL's. I only use one many times. I love the pull switches. It just looks so elegant but not so modern that I can't put it in my 'earth-toned' office. The shade is a heavy glass and really is well put-together. Make sure when you assemble it that you pay attention to where the washers go before placing the shade. The washers are already placed on the bolt in the order they are supposed to be, so when you take them off do it deliberately according to the instructions and you will have no problem.I do not have the problem with any bulbs sticking out the bottom of the lamp, they are plenty covered and are normal-sized CFL's. Overall, this is an excellent lamp, I would highly recommend it. The price was right and it looks like a much more expensive light.

Just arrived and fairly easy to put together - followed instructions. Purchased two, one for each desk in office. First I removed from first box, then second box, then turned onto side to open each side carefully. I recommend doing the last box containing lamp on counter. After removing plastic, start with bottom base and screw on the stem carefully to base making sure to keep stem straight while holding the small ring at the bottom to fit into place. Then pull most of the cord through, making sure top ring is in proper place while screwing top base on. You will be pulling on the cord to help everything stay lined up so keep the cord closest to you. I recommend wrapping the pull chains so not to be dangling while you twist on the upper part of the lamp. This will ensure a straight lamp. The shade is delicate and important to remove from box by lifting the top part of the plastic bubble wrapping. Moreover, it was difficult getting out when trying to grab the glass shade itself from the sides. Separate the screws think plastic on one side of the shade and plastic on the other side. The rest is common sense. Already our office is brighter! We had smaller desk lamps that made it impossible to work efficiently.

I searched around for a lamp that had the right look and took the right bulbs for the breezeway where I smoke my cigars. My wife approved of the lamp. The cigars, not so much but at least she's happy with the lamp. It's awesome for the price....actually are really good deal. Now, if we could only get a good cigar for a better price!
