Every Scrabble Lover Should Own
I love Scrabble. I rarely get to play because nobody else I know shares my love for this game. I have wanted this game since I initially saw the commercials for it several years ago. I finally purchased this game from Amazon this past Xmas.Pros:- Scrabble Flash Cubes essentially solves my problem of not having anyone to play Scrabble with. Scrabble Flash Cubes is largely played as a solo game, although it can be played with more than 1 player. This game offers three game playing options. Game 1 (solo game) - create as many words as you can with a set of 5 letters in a given time period. Game 2 (solo game) - create as many 5 letter words with a set of changing 5 letters in a given time period. Game 3 (multi-player game) - pass the cubes after creating a word, the person to have the cubes when the timer goes off is out (a bit of hot potato of sorts).- Super easy to play with really no setup. Just line up the cubes, press the button, and go.- Replaceable batteries.- Educational: The more you play, the better you will be at coming up with Scrabble words.- Fun: This game is highly addictive. Once you start playing you will want to try to better your score and/or create more words, which will lead to more Scrabble Flash Cubes playing.Cons:- The only con to this game (which IMO, is what I like about it) is that this game is really suited to play solo. If you want to play Scrabble with other people you are better off just playing Scrabble.I would definitely recommend this game to Scrabble lovers, game lovers, and really anyone for that matter.

Great fun alone or with a friend.
I purchased this for my 8 year old son for Christmas after he asked Santa for it. I have to say, this is a great game! It is perfect for him being an only child because it can be played alone. This game kept him busy while visiting family while the adults talked. It is also very portable (just a small box) and can be taken in the car (as long as you have a sturdy surface to play on, such as a lap desk)....he used it while on the trip to visit family. It is very easy to use right out of the box, which we love for an impatient young boy. The game will tell you your score and how many words were possible with the letters given. This makes the game very addicting as you try to get ALL the words, which I must say is challenging. I am a teacher and pride myself in my spelling abilities, but even I cannot get them all every time. The challenge is nice as it is not too easy, which can create boredom. The difficulty level is perfect for children (8-10 and up) and adults. Sometimes we all work together trying to think of words. I rated it high on educational value because it is a spelling game. The instructions encourage you to just place any tiles together because it may create a word that you are not familiar with - this teaches new words (my son stated "I didn't even know that was a word!" and you can encourage looking up the meaning for further learning). Overall, this is a great game for both kids and adults.

Has some technical "bugs"
We were so excited to get our cubes today in time for a long holiday week. But one of my kids played them and said "they didn't work". So I (mom) played them and it mostly worked (1-2 words just wouldn't allow me to score). But then the game had more and more flaws the longer we kept playing....The next time it wouldn't show my score...Then the next time all the cubes wouldn't restart a new game at the end.So we did a hard reboot (off and restart each cube) and we again noticed that there is a pattern of words that do not "count".When that game was over, the cubes held a weird design and the on-off switch wouldn't even turn them on or off at this point. So, I have to rate this game a 1 even though it could potentially be really fun if you have a set that works. I guess this is the trade-off for purchasing a game that relies on technology.Just trying to save some heart-ache if you are buying for a christmas game. You might want to open the package and try them out before giving as a present!

LOVE It!
I bought this for my 17 year old grandson for Christmas since he and I are Scrabble nuts. It had easy set up, although the packaging is labor intensive, and I loved that it had button batteries included. After we played a few rounds, we found we had a hard time keeping it away from every other family member, ages 10-72. Everyone liked it. It is fast, easy for younger players, and great for Scrabble freaks too. It is a great game for just sitting around by yourself and playing a few rounds. There are 3 types of play and I personally like the one with quick 5 letter words when you have to beat the clock. Now that my grandson has taken his home to another state, I will have to buy myself one.

Disappointed - waiting for an improved version
Wow, how disappointing! I was really looking forward to this game, but was disappointed from the start. The technology falls short:1. The black and grey letter images are not very easy to read. How about a little color and more definition? The displays remind me of the first attempts at electronic devices.2. You can only read the letters if you are looking directly down on them from above. This makes it nearly impossible to watch others as they play.3. Right answers and repeat answers are noted with an audible beep. Correct answers darken, but sometimes you can't tell the difference between correct combinations and repeated combinations. There should be more distinct responses for the two results. If color were added, repeat answers could turn red, correct answers could flash green.4. Larger tiles would be helpful for older eyes.5. As with other reviews, some valid combinations never scored, the game needed to be reset frequently, and words that don't exist scored.6. I wish there were more multiple player options.I guess this sounds more like an enhancement request for Scrabble, than a review for potential buyers! I hope they read this because I will definitely snap up a new, improved version!
