Professional Planting Design: An Architectural and Horticultural Approach for Creating Mixed Bed Plantings

I purchased this to learn the art and practice of mixed bed design. While it seems like the right information is included, the book is poorly organized, over-worked, repetitive, and generally difficult to follow. I felt like a detective putting the clues together while reading it. I suggest looking elsewhere.

While this book has quite a bit of information, it doesn't give me any new information that I haven't seen in countless planting design books. It is so similar to a book I already own, that I thought that I had already purchased it.On a positive note I did enjoy the exploration of drift planting. A process I am familiar with, but forget about. Hopefully I can apply those principals to some future designs.

Great explanation of plant massing. I find myself procrastinating reading this book because of the bleed through from the reverse side.I bought a brand new softcover.Difficult to read because of the pages are too thin and the reverse side bleeds through. I find it more difficult to interpret the quality of the line drawings with bleed through shadows from drawing or text from the reverse side. The experience of reading is marked by lack of enjoyment with this impediment.I find no way to contact either Wiley or Amazon with this feedback more directly and privately.Even giving it stars is misleading. Do I rate the book as 5 star for content or 1 star for poor quality?

I am very disappointed that the majority of photos are black & white (the few that are in color are not of good quality - have a yellowish hue). However, the text is one of the most comprehensive of the planting design books that I've seen (I have not seen Chen's yet). I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I will be returning this.

An excellent book on planting design. I enjoyed reading it from the Contents section to the final page. A great reference for mixed bed plantings. The text, the diagrams and the photos are presented with style - enjoyable to read and to use.

The worst kindle edition of a book I have had, pictures rendered in black and white if at all. All of the colour plates in the standard edition are not included in the kindle edition.
