Fans work well, require assembly and some mechanical skills
Update - After I found the controller programming instructions missing, I emailed the “Cooler Guys” and they sent me the programming instructions via email. Looks like I did get the one unit minus that data - quick response from them - their customer service is excellent - thanks!Original review:I got the one kit that was missing assembly and programming instructions. The missing instructions was an oversight. I looked on the Cooler Guys website for a "support" area - nothing. I looked for a download of an owners manual as well - nothing.Thankfully, I grew up in my grandfather's auto repair shop and this kit is not a big deal to assemble or program - took me an extra 10 minutes to figure out the details. I looked back at the Amazon product photos for a little guidance and it helped. The thermostat programming is fairly intuitive as well but that's not the issue. If my wife or anyone else ever wants to reprogram the temperature settings, it's going to a challenge for the non-mechanically inclined - would be nice to have the owners manual/directions and thanks to Cooler Guys for their quick response.I bought the dual 120mm fan kit. It does not move a tremendous amount of air but the fans are fairly quiet and the kit is nicely constructed. It's a fairly thin unit when assembled - about 1 3/4 inches from the top of the assembly screw to the face of the fan bracket. Once I got the kit assembled and the thermostat programmed, installation was straight forward.I’m using the cooling fans for an unusual situation. I have a Wolf counter top oven that is about 5 inches below my upper cupboards. It was getting warm above the oven just under the upper cabinets - like 110 degrees max temp.I wanted to keep the air moving over the oven and I had a recessed paper towel holder in the upper cabinet that I removed and installed the twin 120mm fans in that recess. I set the thermal probe above the oven on the bottom of the cabinet using a 3M adhesive zip tie connector.I set the fans to go on at 100 degrees and off at 90 degrees. The fan turns on and off at exactly those temps. My 4 star rating is due to the fact that none of theAssembly or Programming instructions are on the Cooler Guys website. Not sure why - be a good idea. I added a couple of photos - the one shows the fans installed in my upper cupboards and the other shows the assembled kit after I assembled it for my unusual cooling situation. In my unusual installation and use, the fans work pretty well. They run after my oven reaches operating temperature and they turn off about 20 - 30 minutes after the oven is shut off. Hope that helps!

Fantastic all around upgrade, and impressed with company
I ordered this for a slightly off-the-books application. I have HVAC electronic controls in my attic and when it gets hot they frequently start misbehaving. I'm not sure they were designed for installation in such high heat environments but that's where our dealer put them. That's a story for another day. I recently had to replace one of the components and it struck me that a temperature-controlled fan might help at least keep air circulating around the equipment. I had to fashion together a frame to hold this fan and the display, but in about 90 minutes I got it up and running. I was impressed with how the company carefully packaged all of the components, and it was very clear how to install it from their included directions. My only comment would be the digital display instructions; it's not clear why there's a separate start/stop temperature. I set mine to come on at 85 degrees. Their instructions for that setting aren't super clear. Still, I'm very happy with the purchase. I would definitely recommend.

Works great in my adapted 12v DC install.
I used this to create cooling for an enclosed install of an MPPT solar charge controller in a van. I snipped the wire from the AC adapter and wired this into my 12v dc application and it works great.

Perfect for entertainment cabinets/great custom options.
This kit is perfect for any entertainment cabinet, buy it. In mine I installed one fan blowing "in" and one venting "out" in a vertical position spanning a mid shelf. This gives great air flow around a number of hot running components including a home theater amp, SAT box, Xbox One(that runs HOT) and other components. Temps inside a way too small space now run about 14 degrees over ambient room temp, well within the operating temps for the Xbox. Without the fans the temps were in the too hot to touch range.Took about 15 minutes to assemble the fans and another 30 to make a clean cut install in the cabinet back. In my setup, I mounted the fan bodies outside the back (needs about an inch of clearance), but you can mount them any way you choose -in out, up down, venting-pressurize. The fans are "quiet enough" - some noise expected - and the programmable temp or "always on" controller works great. You can plug it in the amp to come on all the time, or let the programable thermostat run it (a better option as this supports a cool down period after you shut off your equipment.)I did have a minor issue that required emailing support and they responded in one day solving my inquiry. I actually see this (great customer service) as a plus above an beyond the issue itself. If you want a nice, clean looking, venting solution for your entertainment cabinet this dual fan setup is perfect.

Excellent solution for overheating media cabinets
Like most media cabinets, mine has very poor ventilation. For years we just left the doors open to maximize airflow - but even that wasn't sufficient. Now we have a toddler in the house so we had to close it off. I started with thin tight mesh fabric in place of the glass in the door to allow air to pass through, but everything overheated badly. We couldn't even turn on some devices (e.g. game consoles) without opening the door and taking the device out.The coolerguys fans and thermal controllers solves this problem perfectly for me! I started with one Dual-120mm fan kit and devices stopped overheating and making scary noises. With the LED controller, I was able to see that the temp was still fairly high inside the cabinet - largely because I installed the fan behind the cloth mesh, which severely restricted airflow. I bought a second unit without the LED controller and installed that in the back panel of the cabinet. Now air flows through beautifully. The fans only run when needed and it keeps the temp inside the cabinet reasonable even when everything is running.I did have one problem with a faulty LED controller. It worked, but the display was garbled. Coolerguys replaced that for me without any problems, and the new one works great. This is a great product - I highly recommend it to anyone with overheating media cabinets.

Pricey but great (yet not perfect)
The price is a bit eye-watering, and I was tempted to just buy the thermostatic fan controller from Coolerguys and a fan plate and fans elsewhere, but I went with the complete kit because the plate size was supposed to be just right (more on that below). The fan controller is awesome, if it supported variable speed or at least soft start it would be perfection. The kit was supplied with the newer model of fan controller, the same one you can buy separately rather than the one in these pictures, which means it has four 3-pin fan connectors on the back so you could drive a few extra without needing a y-connector which is nice, and the thermal probe is also on a header so it can be replaced. The overall look is a bit industrial, but not out of place on the back of a cabinet. It's quiet but certainly not silent, quiet enough that the noise of it running is ok but you can hear when it comes on. I don't think more expensive (fluid dynamic bearing, instead of double ball bearing) fans would make enough of a difference, and while slower ones are an option the ones provided seem to combine good airflow for the noise level. I don't even think full fan speed control would even be essential, but if they'd just spin up/down over 20 seconds you probably wouldn't notice them at all. With soft-start they'd be great. The fan cables are excessively long, this is a custom kit rather than fans I'm buying off the shelf so there's no reason to be using twist ties to coil up a foot of useless cable and taping it down so it doesn't snag. There are no soft parts, just metal bolts to tighten to mount the fans to the plate. Again for a premium product you'd expect something like Acousti standoffs. These are minor quibbles with a product that is still the best I could find and I'd surely buy again, but for the price it's reasonable to have high expectations. It's a great product.Note that the dimensions listed in the body of the description (as opposed to the technical details box) are incorrect, it lists it asCompleted dimensions: 15.00" x 6.25" (375 x 156.25mm)However it really is exactly 15.00" which is 381mm. 6mm may not sound like a big difference, but in my project it was the difference between a perfect fit and something I had to bodge :(

Was very pleased when I first bought this but controller failed within 18months.
Was very pleased when I first bought this as while it was expensive it was exactly what I needed in a quality kit with a good finish and quiet fans. However after about 12 months the LED on the controller started failing with segments no longer illuminating, whilst irritating it wasn't a big issue.Unfortunately after a further 6 months the controller would repeatedly die and while rebooting it would bring it up for a short time the buttons started to no longer work and the fans just cut whenever the controller died - bad behaviour for a fan controller. This feedback and experience is similar to others for the controller standalone:http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B002PNL0F4/ref=acr_search_see_all?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1I have had to replace the controller with a new one (to fit the panel) and have used the simpler & cheaper (but not cheap at £25) no display thermal preset version but such early failure in life for something of this nature was disapointing and not what I would expect for a product of this type/quality.

Excellent AV cabinet cooling.
Bought this to cool my small AV cabinet which contains a large AV amp, Blu-ray player and a TiVo. The kit is easy to assemble and install if you're handy with a drill and jigsaw. Probably more air movement than I need given the size of cabinet and the equipment in it, but the two fans are quiet enough and they remove a lot of heat very quickly. I've installed the fans on the side as high up as possible (the back wasn't suitable for mounting as it's just a thin sheet of fibreboard). I did initially experiment with having one of the fans set to 'pull' the hot air out into the room and the other 'push' ambient air into the cabinet (as you simply reverse how they're mounted to change air flow direction to suit preferences) but setting them both to extract the cabinet's heat seemed to be the more effective configuration. I have the controller set to maintain optimum temperature in the cabinet at around 30°C and it can easily do that without the fans on all the time. The kit comes complete with mounting plate, 2 fans, front and rear grilles, controller, temperature probe, PSU and all screws/nuts/bolts/cable ties needed. All metal items appear to be finished in powder coated black. With regards to the temperature probe placement, I just placed it loosely on top of the 'top' unit (the TiVo, which is the one that gets the hottest and has been replaced twice due to heat-related failures). The controller itself is pretty easy to use... just a shame it's a little basic as it only has 'on/off' capability rather than variable 'fan speed' or - as another reviewer on here pointed out - a 'soft start' facility. Other than that, it's an impressive solution for cooling AV cabinets.

Not cheap, but quiet cooling that works
Perfectly cools my cabinet without running unnecessarily due to the ability to fine tune the on and off temperatures. Even when it runs, it's quiet enough so I don't actually hear it unless I'm standing almost on top of my cabinet. The price is on the high side, but it got the job done.

Great and very easy to install
This product is great but what is even better is the customer service. Had an issue with a fan and they fixed it right away
