Lockable Security iBOX, Large, 3.13 x 9 x 1 Inches, Plastic, Color May Vary (2648947)

I have locked myself out of my apt several times so I was looking for a security box that I could attach to my door know for a spare key. I wanted to love this but I ended up returning this for the following reasons:- It's really big (probably my fault for not reading the dimensions)- It's transparent so anything you put in there is easily seen by everyone- The biggest reason...it made of cheap, flimsy plastic. If you had anything of value in here, it could EASILY (without much effort at all!) be broken into and your stuff would be gone...which kinda defeats the purpose of the lock box in the first place.

I needed something for my kids so they can protect their few bucks and 'valuables' from each other and I must say those things work very nice. The combination is easy to change, the plastic quite abuse-proof and the overall look quite attractive. I can't speak for any use on bikes or the likes but in my home they are a nice addition. My only complaint would be that Amazon did not allow me to specify the color, so I ended up with two blue ones, but that is just a minor thing.

I bought the smaller one (way too small for a credit card) and this larger one. This one is actually only 5" for storage, the 9" included the cable loop. I use a small wallet and it barely fits, a little bigger would have been much more functional. It works as it should. But why a transparent color? To lock a cell phone, cash, wallet, credit cards, keys, etc, why make it to entice others to be able to see what's in it? Mine came in Transparent orange, as I was unable to select the color. I lined it with Gaff tape inside to make it less visible. If it had the dimensions right and was not transparent, this would be a great product.

Anybody who's complaining about the combination-changing mechanism either didn't read the (very, very simple) instructions, or is incredibly ham-handed with a screwdriver. This nice little box is missing a hole/slot for a power cable or audio cable to go to a device inside (it'll comfortably fit an iPod or smartphone with room for a small set of keys). Since it's plastic, it's pretty easy to cut a notch yourself, especially with a dremel, by notching the top of the box.I wish the cable were twice as thick - this one looks like it could be snipped with a pair of garden shears. I think it's funny that the company is called STEELMASTER and the box has almost no metallic parts at all. (the cable is, but it sure is flimsy)Still, for the few bucks this thing costs, it's well worth it if you just need a way to protect a phone from casual thieves - like plugging into a stereo at a big party, for example. Masterlock makes a much sturdier, more deluxe, (and much bulkier) version that you might like better. The Masterlock box includes a power/audio cable notch, and comes in a couple colors. But it costs roughly twice as much as this guy.

Doesn't work. Flimsy, totally retarded. I got my money back and Amazon said to keep it. So I tossed it in the garbage.

As others have noted, this is a relatively thin plastic box that can be locked to protect the contents. Yes, the plastic can be crushed, smashed, or cut open using tools, but in general, this box cannot be easily removed to what it is anchored to and pried open by bare hands.We purchased this for my daughter so she can travel with her phone to school and then to activities afterwards. It enables her to lock her phone inside the iBOX, lock the iBOX to a clip inside her backpack, and stow it away for the day without worrying too much about it. They don't have lockers at school so it's an extra piece of mind for her. One extra thing: because only the adults know the combination, she can't get to her phone during the day and use it (school doesn't permit that). Her grandparents often pick her up for school so they know the combination and can unlock the iBox and let her have her phone after school is over.Because the box is translucent (ours is a green translucent) you CAN see the contents. So unless you are locking up something fairly inexpensive, you probably wouldn't want to lock up your iPhone in this and clip it to your bike and go shopping for the day. But if you need a small amount of security and protection, this is PERFECT. Both the case AND the metal cord lock and open with a programmable combination.

This is OK. Someone could break into this easily, but I only need to be able to tell that it wasn't tampered with, so it works for me. The mechanism seems cheap, so I'm not sure how long it will last. For the price, though, it is what I needed.

The lock box is good quality and very convenient to take with me. I had an iPhone which fit into the box, which I loved!!!! I now have a samsung galaxy which is to big to fit inside the box. I wish the large size was just a bit wider and longer and it would be absolutely perfect for my new phone. I love taking this to the beach and the pool to keep my valuables safe. My only suggestion would be to put a rubber seal to help make this water proof. That would make it a complete all around fabulous on the go item. I would definitely recommend this item if you are looking for a way to keep a few valaubles locked up when on the go.
