Good album, even if not one of his very best
My initial reaction to this CD was perhaps a bit harsh. I felt Guerra was being excessively derivative of his own work, and this album presented little that was new.I have modified this opinion on repeated listening (which only good music merits) While it does feel quite a bit that Guerra is lifting turns of phrases from old material, and this is not the best of his late period albums, I do think there is more than I initially heard. The real magic of this CD is in the complex and sophisticated arrangements. I.e., the composition and the band is the star, more than Guerra's singing which I find has gotten increasingly cloying. Peaches and Cream has a real funky vibe, and Columbia has a great antique feel, The final de Moca a Paris has truly astonishing virtuosity.Guerra has managed what few do - have a very long career and constantly presenting something new, and he does that here in the composition and the band, if not particularly in melody and voice. But this alone makes it worthwhile.I like all but two of the songs: Tus Besos is really clichéd, and sounds like a retread of any number of songs by Guerra and others, and Muchachita is way too sweet and overly sentimental, with singing to match.I would up my rating to 4 stars

FOR THE MUSIC LOVER!!!
It took me a little while to start liking this new CD. JLG is my favorite artist of all times and I've been enjoying his music for a long time. However, this new album it's a little different than others in the way it makes you appreciate the music as much as the lyrics. So, if you are a music first and lyrics second type of person you would love it. But if you are more into lyrics, you may have to listen to the album a few times to start to appreciate it.

My favorite Merenguero does it again
Another great album from my favorite artist. JLG's Merengues & Bachatas never fail to cheer me up if I'm feeling down, or accompany me when I'm excited & want to dance. My favorites from this album are "Todo Tiene Su Hora" and "Para Que Sepas" which is a great throwback to Buena Vista Social Club sound. Is there anything he can't do?!

This album sounds like classic Juan Luis Guerra
This album sounds like classic Juan Luis Guerra. I smiled the whole way through. I need to listen to it a few more times to decide which is my favorite song, but all the songs have great melodies and beautiful lyrics. The song with Jhonny Ventura was a nice surprise.

Juan Luis Guerra wieder top!
