This stuff worked great. Installed as underlayment for an already pretty thick laminate wood flooring and it held up really well during installation. The adhesive stripping and plastic lined up really well to lay down multiple layers and if you do it right, it also helps relieve some pressure on your knees when installing the laminate flooring. It feels absolutely solid. Granted, this could be from the thickness of the laminate wood flooring as well but we also have some Pergo laminate flooring in another part of the house that was installed from previous owners. I know it was around 8-10 mm thick and with this underlayment and the flooring we put down it feels much more dense.Only time I was able to tear or scratch this stuff up was if I accidentally hit it with the hammer when tapping in blocks. It was even down for an extra day or two since I was installing after I got off work over the course of several days, so my dogs got the chance to run all over it and even they didn't tear it up with their claws unless they intentionally scratched at it (which did happen a couple of times). Make sure to get plenty, as when installing for a good clean finish they recommend you go two inches over every side at least and then just cut it when you're finished. If installing laminate flooring, don't forget to take the thickness of the underlayment into account for your spacers between the wall and the laminate you're installing. Would definitely recommend and would definitely purchase for the next project I need underlayment for. Cheaper than what I was able to find at several other stores but still presents as same quality.

Some annoying issues with this material due to packaging.
I purchased 3 rolls of the underlayment. There were a couple of annoying issues with them.1) The rolls were wrapped together bound very tightly with shrink wrap. I didn't think this would be a problem at first but when I removed the wrap and started laying the padding out, it was obvious that the rolls had deformed into a 3 sided roll and not maintained their original shape. It also affected how flat and straight the material was when laid on the floor. I couldn't get it to line up correctly even though there is tape on the material. I even tried to use extra tape to no avail. This was problematic as I installed the laminate floor over the top of the material. As I went, the material flattened out and the edges tried to overlap. I had to continually trim the edges to meet properly as I went so the laminate would lay flat. This was a time consuming pain. One other issue I had was that one of the rolls had a taped joint part way through the roll, as if a part of the material had been cut out of the roll. At the end of the project I had expected to have about 10 feet left over but there was barely 2 feet. It was a LOT closer than I had expected. I would have been very upset if there were not enough to finish up my project. BE VERY CAREFUL to order more than you need. For example, if you need 300 sq. ft., order 4 rolls instead of 3. As I said above, one roll was apparently returned but only after a good piece was cut from it.UPDATE: The floor I installed this on is a concrete basement floor. The material has worked great. The floor doesn't get very cold or damp and the room is pretty quiet. I installed under a laminate material, With laminates you often get a sort of hollow noise when walking on it. This material helped a lot by softening any noise. I am pretty happy with the result. I only wish it was as easy to install as the manufacturer promised. Now that I've finished the installation, the material seems to be working as designed.

Compared to the $80 roll the salesman tried to push us towards, I have to say this is a great underlayment, and not just because it cost so much less. Only roll out one section at a time, as other reviews pointed out it can puncture or rip with a lot of pressure or traffic. We used this under a floating floor that was glued in place, 1/2" engineered hardwood. The noise reduction is great. The seams tape together well and we noticed the vapor blocking qualities immediately. It does not make the floor feel spongy but it does provide a bit of cushion between the subfloor and hardwoods. This product is a little awkward to work with as it does not roll out, and it tends to hold it's rolled shape for a few minutes. It's best to use a buddy to lay it out and cut it to fit- you could even leave it rolled and get a bit of weight on it before trying to cut it. To cut, either use scissors or have some kind of backing behind it if using a razor knife. It will tear and snag without something to press into.Overall, this is an excellent product and the price is notably better than anything I could find locally.

This stuff is great!
This underlayment was very easy to install and works very well. We put laminate in a second floor room. After the removal of the carpet and before the installation of the underlayment and floor, the noise of feet upon the plywood made me wonder if it would sound like a bowling alley on the first floor when the floor was done. Nope. People below can barely hear anything, and I believe that much of the credit goes to the underlayment. We had a two year old racing around the room after the underlayment, and we walked all over it. It was much more impervious to ripping than I had thought, based upon the reviews of others. This is a P.S. 5 months later. I really can't say enough good about the underlayment. In retrospect, I realize how easy it was to install. The adhesive that keeps the strips together is incredibly helpful. The material cut very easily but, as I noted, did not rip even with a 2 year old running on it. The floor feels good underfoot, and it was not very expensive laminate. If only the laminate had been as easy to install....

Sound muffler
We put this under 1000 Sq ft of 1/2" thick bamboo flooring. It was easy to lay and cut. A Month Later I really think it has helped with the sound. We have two young children and a large dog so it's never quiet. But going from a whole first floor of carpet and cheap linoleum this is awesome.
