Hard to get excited about vermiculite, but this fall I was putting in raised kitchen garden. The "square foot garden" recipe for the soil is peat, compost, and vermiculite. I went to several big box stores and my neighborhood nursery and found vermiculite in small bags (a little larger than a gallon) that were $15+ dollars. I didn't want to spend that much on my bed. I'm really pleased with the bag that just showed up on my doorstep. It's probably four times the size of the little bag I purchased this fall which makes it about half the price.

Square foot gardening essential
I'm a devotee of the Square Foot Gardening guy. (Try it: closest thing to foolproof.) Vermiculite isn't always easy to find locally, so I was happy to see it available online, at a good price.
