Bad Company has helped shaped the sound of an entire rock era with iconic powerhouse rock anthems and popular ballads. Having unearthed the original multi-track tapes and discovered previously unreleased tracks, takes, and mixes the band has remastered their first two albums to create new Deluxe Editions. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rodgers, along with guitarist/songwriter Mick Ralphs, bassist Boz Burrell, and drummer Simon Kirke recorded the band’s eponymous debut in November 1973 using Ronnie Lane’s mobile studio at Headley Grange, the former poorhouse where Led Zeppelin recorded frequently. When Bad Company was released the following year, the album went to #1 in America. The album features the hits Can’t Get Enough,” “Bad Company,” “Ready for Love,” and “Movin’ On.” The second LP of the Deluxe Edition features eight previously unreleased recordings such as the demo for the ballad “The Way I Choose,” a take of “Bad Company” recorded right before the album version, and an unedited version of “Superstar Woman,” a song that Rodgers later recorded in 1983 for his solo album Cut Loose.

Very bad pressing
This is a double album and unfortunately, due to a very poor quality pressing of the vinyl record, side one of the first album is unplayable. Side two isn't much better with the stylus rocking from side to side. It appears the centre hole is far from being central. It's a real shame as the cd version I have has some great tracks, I was really looking forward to hearing it on vinyl. I feel £21.98 has been wasted buying half an album. This album was purchased as a Christmas present so I've only just got round to reviewing it. Partly due to the fact I was so disappointed I put it back on the shelf and left it there.

Can't get enough...
Formed from members of classic blues rock outfit Free and Mick Ralphs of Mott The Hoople, Bad Company carried on the bass-heavy, bluesy rock tradition of Free, with a little bit of Mott’s eye for a commercial hit.TRACK LISTING1. Can't Get Enough2. Rock Steady3. Ready For Love4. Don't Let Me Down5. Bad Company6. The Way I Choose7. Movin' On8. SeagullThe Free influence comes over loud and clear on slow-burning blues tracks like “The Way I Choose”, “Don’t Let Me Down” and the rocking “Bad Company”. The Mott legacy is obviously there on “Ready For Love” (previously recorded on MTH’s “All The Young Dudes” album) and the hit single “Can’t Get Enough” whose riff owes more than a little bit to Mott’s “One Of The Boys”. There is a nice singalong rocking feel to “Movin’ On” too as well.“Rock Steady” is a powerful, bluesy rock song, very Free-like in its tight-trousered potency. Hackneyed as it now may seem, I still enjoy a bit of this 70s rock. “The Way I Choose” is similar, a slow burning slab of pulsating blues rock. "Seagull" is an enjoyable, powerful, bluesy rock ballad.Saxophone is used on a few tracks to give a slightly different sound to that of Free in places, but there are as many similarities, none more so, of course, than the wonderful voice of singer Paul Rodgers. Anything he lends his vocal chords to would be impressive.

Flat vinyl please!
Didn't get to hear this album (got their other one - Sharpshooter) because the vinyl was warped. I returned it for a replacement, and it too was warped! Now it's ok offering this supposedly superior heavyweight vinyl, but if it isn't stored correctly I.e. vertically, then it will reach the consumer in an unplayable state. (It wasn't totally unplayable, but I was unwilling to subject my expensive- over £1000 stylus to the stresses of having to ride the warp!) This presupposes that it left the pressing plant in a flat state. If the problem is at the pressing plant, then apologies to Amazon, but wherever the faults are occurring, the quality control needs improving, now that it's cool to buy vinyl again (I never stopped!)
