At Twelve: Portraits of Young Women

Sally Mann has a way of bringing out the beauty of a young lady through her black and white photography. Sally Mann is like the lady of Jock Sturgis, in which they are both masters of their craft. They bring out the beauty of the subject through the use of the black and white film and through the use of shadows and natural sunlight. This book is good, but I did expect more portraits.

I found the technical aspect of this work to very pleasing. I don't find the composition itself to be as good Sturges, but all in all this is a nice piece of work. that being said, I do really like Sally Mann's work. This particular material was not as compelling to me as some of her other work.

The photography in this book was excellent - reminiscent of Jock Sturges, sans nudity. The portraits are of individuals and families in what reminds me of rural America in a time gone by. This is innocence on display without pretentiousness.

Any work from Sally Mann is outstanding in my opinion. Her work is creative and there is a warm feeling with each photo.I especially support her with the work of her own children. This book allows her to show many sides of her creative mind.Not for everyone or the easily offended. Keep an open mind and enjoy!

Good pics... More subject matter preferred. Condition of book very good.

Reading pleasure

just awfulsave your money, this book is not worth it. The pictures are dull and lifeless, boring composition. Mann hasn't captured anything here but a bunch of worthless photos. Any 10th rate amateur photographer could have done better.

Sally Mann ist ohne jeden Zweifel eine der herausragendsten Künstlerinnen der Gegenwart. Selten wurden Menschen (Kinder) so sensibel und liebevoll in einem Kunstwerk in ihrer Einzigartigkeit thematisiert.

Tres bel album, mais les photos sont moins belles que celles auxquelles Sally Mann nous a habitués. Je dirais donc: achetez si vous aimez vraiment ce photographe, sinon evitez

Sí, es una pasada. Ya lo era "Inmediate Family", con "At Twelve", Sally Mann vuelve a encantarnos. La atmósfera es parecida al anterior, pero es distinto. Uno de mis libros de foto favoritos, sin duda.
