So funny
What a great show! It is British humour at it's best. Constantly laugh every time I watch an episode.

Funny British TV Comedy
This show is one of several British comedy shows that is hilarious to watch. The episodes do have some "insinuations", but it is all in good laughs. The story of a woman, the oldest of four sisters, trying to rise above from the lower station she was born into, as she wants to be socially accepted by those in higher stations including the aristocracy and high government positions. Her sisters and their 'daddy' always do something that ruins Hyacinth's morning coffee with Elizbeth, the tea parties, the candlelight dinners, musical soiree, church events, etc. Despite her neighbors thinking she is a bossy interfering person, (she is oblivious to what people actually think of her) she feels that it is her responsibility to be the leader in the decorum of social events in her community and even interfering with the career(s) of her husband, Richard, who meekly just resigns himself to being bossed around. Watching the show, it makes you wonder what Richard saw in her to marry her, but possibly as said in the bonus material, Richard probably wanted his life directed by Hyacinth instead of being his own man. Hyacinth makes her neighbor Elizabeth so nervous that she spills the tea/coffee and breaks her "Royal Doulton with the Periwinkles" or other cups. Great show to watch. Ranks up there with "Are You Being Served?", "Only When I Laugh", etc. Interestingly, Patricia Routledge did train as a singer and some videos of her can be seen on YouTube.

Keeping Up Appearances
My wife being Latina, Love's Keeping up appearances. We use to watch them on PBS a long time ago. They never get old! As advertised the complete collection. I checked the disc and they're all in order. Going to start watching tonight.😎. The disc turned out to be scratched and wouldn't play correctly. I found out they were used. I called Amazon stating I wanted a refund and explained why. They issued a refund and I reordered. Making sure the were not used but a new set. They're supposed to arrive today. I'll do another review l'll do another review later.

The Brits Have It
I am not usually one for comedies. So, you can imagine how surprised I was to be hooked on this program from the very first time I saw it on PBS. I love British dramas and mysteries. I stumbled upon this show and was pleasantly surprised. I feel so out of the loop, having not ever seen it before now. I watched it over two weekends and placed my order. I had laughed so hard that tears were flowing from my eyes! What a surprise it was and is for me. My heartfelt gratitude to the actors and all of the production team. The Brits are exceptional in their artistry. Love it!

Love this series!
I love this series! I was introduced to it in the late 90's when it was on our local PBS station. It's definitely British humor but it's a cute show to watch on a Saturday night with a cup of tea!Highly recommend.

Discs seem ok but ...
I just received these discs yesterday and have only got through the first one. Quality seems good. The problem I have is with the case. When I first opened it, 4 discs were loose. I initially though it was due to shipping, but eventually discovered it was because the "teeth" that are supposed to keep the discs in place were broken. What a nuisance!

One of the funniest Brit coms
Hyacinth will go to any lengths to portray herself as being one of the higher social classes. And she enlists or drags everyone else around her to achieve her goals, which makes for one of the funniest British series ever produced. We all know someone like Hyacinth and that makes this character very believable. Patricia Routledge is superb in this role which seems made-to-order for her. She is also surrounded by a very talented cast who are the perfect foils for her antics. Kudos to Clive Swift for his performance as Hyacinth's long-suffering husband Richard. Author Roy Clark has succeeded in bringing to life one of the most unforgettable characters in television history. As a Canadian I find Hyacinth and family and neighbours strike a chord with all nationalities. A true classic!

Cheap packaging in this edition.
A really good collection for those who like British comedy. Be warned, it is a formulaic production with many of the same jokes used continually throughout the series. This will likely make it a love it or hate it proposition for many.Given the price I imagine most will know the show if they plan to pay this much for it.The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. The DVD's are not properly secured and it comes in a single cheap case to house all of the discs. They could have left the horrible outer cover and packages of (possibly unviable) flower seeds and put more production value into the container actually holding the discs.
