Great for finer-gauge knitting; Not quite as durable as stainless steel, but functional and useful
I got these gourd/calabash pins to use while knitting, or wherever I need to catch a loop in my on knitting or in knit fabric to prevent further unravelling and mark the area for repair. I prefer these to the more usual plastic stitch markers (essentially plastic "safety pins") is that these are a fine-gauge wire, so I can fit them into my knitting if I want to mark something, whereas the plastic ones are far too large and thick to fit. These come in a good plastic box, and it's not that brittle plastic that cracks easily - there are no markings, but subjectively, it seems to be like thick nearly-clear milk-jug-type plastic. It has a built in snap-type closure. It's just pliable enough that I was able to screw a small hook into the end to suit my personal storage method. It closes tightly enough to keep the pins inside. These pins are much more "bendable" than I think of spring-tempered stainless or "music wire" as being, but they're definitely not "soft", either - I was just hoping they'd have more of a "memory wire" quality. They're magnetic, so that *does* make it easy to keep a few conveniently accessible without keeping the entire box open, since I would inevitably spill it! All in all, they're definitely functional, decent quality, and a reasonable buy.

These pins are NOT rust proof.
The over all quality of the safety pins is fine, I think… but I only bought them because I needed a pin that could go through the laundry, and in a dye pot that would not rust. They specifically say in the product title that they are rust-proof! After 1 day sitting in a little water to test them…. the silver one DID rust, after 2 days the gold one rusted too. The black one, not yet. Also, even though they claim to be ‘stainless steel’ they can be picked up with a magnet. Clearly, they are regular steel with some sort of coating. The end of the pin (that goes into the safety latch) is not coated….and that is the part that rusted. They would work fine as knitting stitch markers, or product tags…. but not for sustained contact with water.I would be very hesitant to use them on a quilt.

I love the size and wanted to use them to price ...
I love the size and wanted to use them to price merchandise. The problem is the black paint leaves behind spots where it was inserted into the fabric. Dark fabrics are fine, but any light colors will have 2 small spots were the pin was.

Skip!!!!
These safety pins are garbage. They have burs on them so they don’t even pierce cotton without extensive work. Half won’t even open up and they bend or break with any amount of force/effort. This made an hours worth of work (pricing clothes for a consignment sale) into hours and hours and a lot of stabbed finger tips. Eventually gave up and went to the store to get different ones. Not pleased!

OK for temporary use
The pins did not come in the packaging pictured. I would have preferred the packaging in the picture because it loOKs more professional. Rather it got my pins loose dumped into a generic pactic box. I don't even know where I'm going to keep them since I can't keep them on my dresser in this box. Would have preferred a box that I could keep them in.Also - some of the pins were already broken in the box upon delivery and some of them were bent, which was a little dissapointing, as you can imagine. So some were un-usable.Other than that, you still have over 200 usable pins!! So it's good for the price you pay.

Not Sure I Would order again
Opened Silver … out of 38 used … 11 clasps were inferior and fell off … did not force these into tough surfaces … rather childrens thin cotton paired socks and thin snack bags … haven’t opened gold or black as of yet … not sure yet if I would ever order these again … there are still 739 that I have not attempted yet to use …

cute but cheap
love the idea of this gourd shape- happy to discover it- I'm using it for sorting small buttons; placing like with like on the same pin. but of the batch i ordered, about 20% of the heads became detatched on first use. Can be shoved back on, but I will never feel confident that its a secure connection. not good quality.

Just ok
I really liked these when I first got them but the pins tend to pop open and my price tags fall off. Not all of them, but it is annoying.

Bulb stitch markers
I chose these to use as stitch markers in my knitting projects. They are very fine so they are suitable for sock yarn which is very thin. They came in a plastic box which is very handy but they didn’t have the packaging as shown in the description. They work well and I am pleased with them.

Used as stitch markers in knitting and crochet
So much better than the usual thick, plastic markers as I can keep these in the stitch and still get my hook/needle in
