Great for through-box USB connections for Arduino.
I used these to connect to an Arduino in a project box. Drilling holes is MUCH easier and cleaner than cutting irregular holes for USB. Also, these make a very solid connection instead of just having the connector hanging without much support. I was worried that the shielding might be a problem, but the USB cables I cut had foil around a bare ground wire, so the shielding seems to still be effective. NOTES: be sure to run the cable through the hole in the project box before soldering the connector on. The 12mm hole wasn't big enough to fit the USB connector through. Also, use a stepper drill bit instead of a twist drill bit. Even on a drill press, the twist bit grabbed the plastic and broke the first box. The stepper bit worked great and you can get one for about the price of a nice project box.
