Saves a lot of manual work and does away with human error. The footpedal jack is included, Amazon has a good selection footpedals.

Impressive Customer support
I had a minor issue and Customer support took care of it immediately.The VINCA DTCR-03 RS232 Digital Caliper Data cable worked with my other non-VINCA caliper (NIEKO tools) which makes it very useful and increased its value.The VINCA DTCR-03 RS232 does not use RS232 serial protocol, it enumerates as a USB device. It appears that many of the cheap Calipers use the same protocol and the only difference is the wire connecting the VINCA DTCR-03 RS232 to the caliper.In general, this is a very useful interface if you want to connect your caliper to the PC and get your data immediately transferred to an Excel spreadsheet with a press of a button.Happy with my purchase.

"Enter"button is inconvenient
The caliper and cable work well together!Full ease of use is inhibited by having the "send" button separate from the location of the caliper, necessitating two handed operation; slightly inconvenient while holding a part or object for measurement

the most convenient way to transfer measurements to your computer.
I use the data transfer cable to fill in the measurements of shape files for 3d printing. It is a lot faster to hit 1 button than to hand type in those measurements as I create shape files for 3d printing.. The only thing I would change in its design would be to add an external trigger on say a cord rather than having to go directly to the button on the small box on the unit. Otherwise it does what it is suppose to do flawlessly.

A nice add on.
This is a great device if your going to make a lot of measurements in a row. I have found it very convenient when fabricating mounts for servos, in particular. It saves the time of writing down measurementsmeasurments

Nice way to get data to a computer to process and plot the data
Would have been nice to have an optional for a remote data enter switch but it was not to hard assemble after you get all the parts.
