Stunning adhesion.....
Last weekend I suffered a tubular flat and made a roadside tyre swap. The tyre that flatted was a Conti Gatorskin on Tufo tape on carbon rims. Such was the strength of the tape's adhesion it was necessary to lever off the tubular . The tyre eventually came away but the tape remained intact on the rim. I then replaced the flat with my get-me-home lightweight Tufo tyre, with the original tape in situe on the rim. The 20 mile ride home was without incident despite having occasionally forgotten I was on the get-me-home tyre and taking too much speed into some tight bends. I now understand why the tyre remained so perfectly in place despite my cavalier bend taking ; when I got home I experienced the same resistance from the tape, the same adhesion in removing the get-me-home tyre as I had done at the roadside despite this being the second use of the tape. I'm not affiliated to Tufo, this is simply a stunning product that I want to show my appreciation for by relating the experience.
