I didn’t get the newer updated version. It’s very old. I ordered a used version but I expected the cover and text to be the same as the image, only used.

An essential resource for professionals providing care and education for infants. This work is well written, easy to understand and sound in philosophy. Can be used as the base for professional development for childcare centre teams. Also easy enough to understand for parents and caregivers who are not trained educators.

I hesitate to rate it high or low. It's simply a very basic book for someone with little experience around infants or children. I was looking for something more in-depth regarding child development and am returning the book.

As a lead teacher in a infants centre I found this book invaluable, clear and concise on the care of infants with the issues, rational and goals outlined. It gave practical ideas and examples to explain how to care for and respond to infants. We are now going through this book a chapter at a time with our staff as a training, upskilling and reafirming exercise, many of them have brought their own copies. Would recommend for teachers, home caregivers and parents in fact anyone who cares for an infant.
