GREAT BOOK FOR BEGINNERS!
My wife was thinking of starting archery but wasn't sure she would like it. We didn't want to go ahead and buy all the expensive archery gear just to find out she didn't like it or see it as a passing desire. We bought this book to get her started. We had looked at other books but they all seemed like books for people who already knew what they were doing. This book is how to get started from a beginner's point of view. We did end up getting some halfway decent archery equipment and because of this book she is getting pretty good at it and she enjoys it.

Good for newbies.
This book is great for beginners with introduction to the fundamentals. It is a quick read and does not get deep into the finer details. Good place to start.

Well Done Technical and Instructional Manual
Amante “Mat” Marinas is a prolific writer on weapon’s based martial arts. He is a grandmaster of Arnis who has written several books and dozens of articles on the arts. In his new book, “Archery for Beginners,” Marinas branches out into projectile weapons, namely the bow and arrow. Herein he presents an extremely detailed look at the fundamentals and methods of mastering the shooting skills of recurve and compound bows. In Part 1, Marinas tackles the bow, arrow, and care of tackle. Part 2 moves into safe shooting, how to avoid injuries. Part 3 is where the tricks of the trade come into play. Here the author delves into the mechanics of shooting the bow, and techniques for strengthening wrist and grip. It moves into the arts of instinctive shooting, arrow speed and trajectory, practice games and even how to build your own bow. An engineer by education, Mat Marinas brings his depth of knowledge in engineering and martial arts into a comprehensive guide to archery that, along with its color images, is a terrific guide for beginners wishing to delve into the art and sport of archery. Well done.

Not very useful for compound bow / release shooters
Pretty good book overall, but geared towards recurve bow and target shooting, not compound bows. Also, there is zero info regarding the use of releases, so look elsewhere for that.
